About the role
We are seeking a skilled and mission-driven UX Designer to support user experience design initiatives for federal government digital services. This position requires a professional with strong human-centered design capabilities and a commitment to building accessible, user-friendly interfaces that serve the public and federal stakeholders. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and policy experts to create meaningful digital experiences.
Location. This role is office-based at our Bellevue, Washington office.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Conduct user research (interviews, usability tests, surveys, etc.) in compliance with federal regulations and standards.
Translate research insights into design concepts, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
Collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to ensure user needs are effectively translated into functional requirements.
Design with accessibility in mind, ensuring compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 standards.
Create and maintain design systems in alignment with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
Present findings and design solutions to government stakeholders and facilitate feedback loops.
Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
Support iterative design and agile development processes within a multidisciplinary team.
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship (required for most federal contracts).
3+ years of experience in UX design, preferably within a government or regulated environment.
Strong portfolio demonstrating UX design capabilities including wireframes, prototypes, and research documentation.
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or Axure.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative design practices.
Experience designing for accessibility and inclusive design.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with federal agencies or on public-sector digital products.
Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
Experience with Section 508 compliance and accessibility testing tools.
Knowledge of front-end development concepts (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) is a plus.
Human-Centered Design (HCD), SAFe, or Agile certifications.

Compensation
For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).

$128,000—$160,000 USD
