Responsibilities
Monitor the quality of components using a wide range of equipment including CMM inspection and departmental quality documentation
Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments
Process must be easily repeatable, requiring a low amount of troubleshooting and adjustment to yield a quality product
Must understand materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques
Perform part set ups with the assist of air hand wrenches, operate machine independently with minimal supervision
Work from blueprints, process sheets, and sketches to perform production tasks
Communicate with engineers to better understand the purpose of a part assembly
Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances
Setting & operating cylindrical grinders and surface grinders
Responsibilities (continued)
Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools, and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
Good at math with analytical abilities
Serve as site SME in various aspects of the craft and must show the ability and willingness to act as a step-up supervisor in the absence of the Craft Lead
Serve as mentor for less experienced peers
Take lead roles during turnarounds and outages
Interpret drawings and use initiative in manufacturing grinding fixtures
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
5+ years of related experience in operating manual and/or computerized equipment such as Horizontal and Vertical Lathes, Mills, Broaching Machines, CNC Lathes program and operation and Balancing Equipment, etc.
Proficient use and selection of precision machinist tools
Ability to prioritize work to align with goals and meet deadlines
Understanding of safety issues in a hazardous environment
Ability to work overtime hours, rotating schedule and give call-out rotation support
Proficient at blueprint reading, planning, and organizing job functions
Ability to read mechanical drawings and product manuals to repair equipment or fabricate new parts
Ability to operate a forklift, JLG, or other motorized equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Compressor valve/high-pressure packing repair/mechanical experience
Experience with the repair of Valves Actuators to include Pneumatic piston
Prior failure mode analysis training
Computer Skills (SAP, MS Word & Excel, database experience)
