Broad Street - 2nd Floor, Columbus, OH 43215 What You'll Do: The State Medical Board of Ohio is seeking an experienced Attorney to join our Legal team with a focus on the Board's public records processes.

This person will work under the general direction of the Chief Legal Counsel and will require considerable knowledge of substantive and procedural law related to compliance with laws related to the Medical Board records, including laws related to public records, confidentiality and personal information systems.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: * Coordinates the Board's policies and procedures related to public records, including gathering responsive documents and responses to requests from members of the public and government officials.

* Responds to requests for confidential investigative information under R.C.

4731.22(F)(5), and subpoenas.

* Provides training to Medical Board staff on the Board's policies related to public records and confidential information.

* Reviews and provides assistance or responses to public inquiries regarding the Board's laws, rules and policies.

* Participates in administrative triage of complaints and advises Medical Board Secretary & Supervising Member regarding appropriateness of investigations and disposition of complaints.

* Reviews and maintains copies of contracts entered on behalf of the Board; develops and updates standard boilerplate contract language based on state laws, rules and executive orders.

* Commits to satisfying internal & external customers by responding to requests in a timely manner, proactively identifying customer needs & working to resolve customer complaints.

* Serves as management level employee & assists with resolving complex legal issues related to records of the Medical Board.

* Assists lower-level attorneys on complex questions of law and cooperates with the Office of Attorney General on legal issues as required.

* Develops and drafts administrative rules on behalf of the agency.

* Conducts legal research of case & statutory law, constitutions, state and federal regulations & legal treatises & drafts relevant rules and legislation.

* Performs various complex, technical, detail-oriented & comprehensive special projects on behalf of the Board & its committees, Executive Director or Chief Legal Counsel.

* Performs miscellaneous administrative duties or projects, as assigned, to facilitate operational efficiency.

This position is unclassified and overtime exempt.

Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 12 mos.
