POSITION: Mental Health Professional

SALARY: $34.55-$40.05

REPORTS TO: Behavioral Health Program Manager

LOCATION: Nespelem, Washington

Basic Functions: This is a non-exempt position. Responsible for the delivery of a broad range of Mental Health Services to the community. Services may include: Mental Health Assessments, intake appointments, diagnosis of psychiatric disorders, individual, family and group counseling, treatment planning, case management, crisis triage and follow-up counseling.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

The core of study must include seven (7) content areas from the list of: Assessment/diagnosis, Ethics/Law, Counseling individuals, Counseling groups, Counseling couple and families, Developmental Psychology (may be child adolescent, adult or life span), Psychopathology/abnormal psychology, Research and evaluation, Career development counseling, Multicultural concerns, Substance/chemical abuse, Physiological psychology, Organizational psychology, Organizational psychology, Mental Health consultation, Developmentally disabled person, Abusive relationships, and Chronically mentally ill.

Must be licensed by the Washington State Department of Health as an Independent Clinical Social Worker without restrictions.

Requires a valid State Driver’s License and be eligible for the Tribe’s vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment.

Requires to be licensed by the Washington State Department of Health as an Independent Clinical Social Worker without restrictions.

Requires to be licensed by the Washington State Department of Health as a Mental Health Counselor without restrictions. If licensed in a state other than Washington, Must obtain Washington State Licensure with same guidelines as above within 90-day probationary period.

Requires the possession of a First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90-days of employment.

Requires completion the HIV/AIDS and blood borne pathogens training within six-months of employment.

Requires verification of TB test or X-ray with negative results, prior to employment.

Requires copies of diplomas, transcripts, licensures, or registrations that pertain to the position applying for with application and by the closing date.

Requires the knowledge of diversity in rural America and specifically on Indian reservations.

Requires the knowledge of and commitment to adhere to the professional code of ethics for respective profession.

Requires work experience demonstrating experience developing, maintaining positive, fair, and professional relationships with co-workers/peers, subordinates, supervisors, collaborative partners, and government agencies.

Knowledge of Tribal, State and Federal standards and licensure requirements.

Requires the skill in the use of computers and associated software as it relates to the duties of the position.

Requires knowledge of electronic medical records system and computer database systems.

Requires knowledge of working with Indian Health Services clinic, Contract Health care system, and other Requires previous work experience MUST indicate confidentiality of all records, materials and communications concerning patients, other program staff and professionals or other areas that may impact the operation of the program and requires HIPAA compliance.

Requires the knowledge of working with Indian Health Services clinic, Contract Health care system, and other ambulatory clinic providers to ensure a holistic and comprehensive treatment approach.

Applicant should have experience addressing issues of trauma with youth and families and a solid knowledge base of trauma when completing the intake and developing the treatment plan as well as the ongoing treatment.

Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, clients, outside entities and the general public.

Requires the ability to work with the team that will provide intervention/prevention counseling services for crisis situations and suicide attempts as well as outreach to families of suicide completions.

Requires strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Requires Ability to analyze and apply effective conflict resolution skills.

Requires the ability to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as the work dictates.

Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, clients, outside entities, and the general public.

Requires the ability to provide intervention/prevention-counseling services for crisis situations and suicide.

Requires the ability to work under tense, demanding, and sometimes-critical situations.

Requires the ability to function in indoors and outside environments, engaged in work of a predominately sedentary nature.

Requires sufficient physical ability to move to work locations.

Requires the ability to grasp, reach, push, and pull and move light weight work materials and supplies.

Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to use a personal computer keyboard, multimedia, and other office equipment.

Requires sufficient hearing and speaking skills to project voice and communicate with staff, and others in small group settings and in one-on-one conversations.

Requires visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens, observe clients and moving objects and events.

Requires the ability to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends and holidays as work dictates.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
