Wethersfield Public Schools has an opening for an on-call lighting, sound and audio/visual (A/V) technician within the district. The individual selected for this role is responsible for the lighting, sound, and A/V management of different events (concerts, theatrical productions, community events) in the Wethersfield High School auditorium. Additional specialized training will be provided as needed.

Location: Wethersfield High School Auditorium

Start Date: Immediate

Work Schedule: As-needed basis with the majority of events taking place on weekends

Application Date: Position will remain open until filled

Rate of Pay: $25 to $40 per hour based on experience and qualifications

This is an on-call position that works periodically throughout the school year when events are held in the evening or on weekends that require a moderate to high level of technical knowledge beyond the expertise of existing/available staff.

This position is paid for hours worked only. There are no other benefits associated with this on-call position.

Responsibilities:

Meet with production staff ahead of events to determine lighting and sound needs.

Program light shows with a variety of productions including concerts, plays, and community events.

Attend “dry runs” of productions to ensure that lighting and sound is properly configured.

Queue up and play audio through the auditorium’s sound system.

Monitor lighting and sounds during events and productions

Set-up and breakdown of needed A/V equipment before and after events. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Foundational understanding of stage lighting and sound systems.

Ability to troubleshoot and fix a/v and lighting anomalies as they occur.

Timeliness in starting and finishing projects.

Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Ability to work cooperatively with others. Qualifications:

Two or more years of experience working with live production lighting and sound equipment in a stage-based environment.

Understanding of lighting systems including concepts of programming and running lighting shows.

Understanding of sound equipment including mixing boards, microphones, amplifiers, and speaker/wiring configurations. All applicants must apply on-line at
