General Description
Head Coach is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, character development, and coaching instruction for Junior Varsity and Varsity programs.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in teaching and/or coaching Volleyball.
Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge of Volleyball rules and regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
To foster, develop, and display the highest level of sportsmanship among coaches, athletes, spectators, and officials
Must obtain NFHS and VHSL Coaching Principals, CPR, First-AID, Child-Abuse, and Concussion Certifications within one (1) year.
To coordinate the work of any assistant coaches or volunteer coaches to develop an effective staff.
Attends yearly VHSL Rules Clinic.
Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants through supervision and detailed practice schedules.
To develop and manage an evaluation process to determine student-athletes who make the team through try-outs.
Provide guidance and support for Junior Varsity and Middle School Volleyball luding monitoring their progress and development.
To communicate effectively with the team, staff, parents, administration, community, and the media.
Attends required Head Coaches meetings scheduled by the Athletic Director.
Schedules and holds a preseason parent meeting.
Effectively communicates student-athlete handbook, VHSL requirements, and team specific rules and regulations to the student-athletes and parents.
Oversees team-specific financial accounts and coordinates effectively with the school bookkeeper and athletic director to address equipment and uniform needs.
Coordinates at least one (1) fundraising event per year
Responsible for the setup, organization, and removal of equipment for practices and games, ensuring safety, functionality, and efficient operations.
Maintain proper records, including VHSL physical forms and team information.
To develop and manage a system of issuing equipment to players, maintaining equipment inventory and storing equipment.
Promotes the proper use and care of equipment and school property
Assists the athletic director in preparing eligibility forms
Maintains compliance of Nottoway County Public Schools and Virginia High School League rules, regulations, and policies that pertain to athletic programs,
Encourages community partnerships that enhance interscholastic activities at Nottoway County Public Schools

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, reach overhead, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments under a variety of weather conditions.
Visual and auditory ability to interact with students, staff, and the public both in-person and via technology.

Employment Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Submission of two (2) professional references, including one from a current or former supervisor.
Successful completion of background screenings, including:
Tuberculosis (TB) screening/test
FBI criminal history investigation
Virginia State Police criminal history check
Child Protective Services (CPS) background check
