Job Description
Basic Function:
The Machine Operator is responsible for making batches of material in accordance with customer’s and/ or client's specifications. He or she weighs up material, cleans the mixing area, and troubleshoots any mixing problems. In addition, he or she is responsible for any other task the Plant Manager or Group Leader deems necessary.
This position is not assembly line work. The position includes physical labor including but not limited to, repetitive heavy lifting of chemicals, solvents, etc. that can weigh up to 50 lbs. frequently and frequently going up and down stairs. Critical attention to detail is also an important skill.
This will be a 2nd or 3rd shift position. 2nd shift is 3:00pm - 11:30pm (Monday - Friday), 3rd shift is 11:00pm - 7:30am (Sunday night - Friday morning). Occasional overtime may be required.
$2.00 per hour shift premium for 2nd & 3rd shift after training is complete.
Incentive Program - After completion of training, earn even more money based on production! (Up to $27.00 per hour by the End of Year 1)
Essential Functions:
Ability to operate a fork lift
Review Mixing Schedule
Produce batches in mixer, as scheduled
Extract batches from mixers
Inspect reconditioned drums prior to use
Dump batches from mixers
Communicate with the previous mixer operators to discuss any irregularities or special instructions that need to be followed
Produce standard production batches by following the Mixing Procedure/batch ticket
Produce base in cooker
Report to the Plant Manager, Group Leader, or Quality Assurance any nonconformities in batches or procedures as they occur
Maintain correct identification on batches
Complete necessary paperwork correctly and timely, including batch tickets and mixing dump reports
Inform your Plant Manager of any of the following: Unidentified or mis-identified batches, drums or raw materials, Safety concerns, and Maintenance concerns
Keep work area neat and clean
Run process to maximize product quality and output
Log numbers on the packing list and the verification sheet for returnable magna drums
Ensure safety apparatuses are in place
Ensure oldest lots of raw materials are used first (FIFO)
Complete production reports daily
Assist in unloading drum truck, when necessary
May be responsible for handling hazardous waste
Perform real-time reporting in SAP
Trained in SAP scanning
Act as a 2nd verification visual inspection drums before filling
Communicate effectively with all Team Members
Perform inspections and tests on drums and batches
Ensure Lean procedures are conducted throughout batch process
Skills / Competencies:
1-3 years of experience in mixing, batching, chemical handling, machine operations, etc.
Forklift operation

Additional Skills:
Must be able to life up to 60lbs repeatedly
Comfortable working in a facility with strong odor
Must pass a skills test
Must pass an audiogram test
