Job Description
JRAD is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Scientist to serve as Key Personnel supporting the CBRN Defense Coordinating Office (DCO) at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC). This position plays a critical role in coordinating and analyzing research activities funded by the DoD Chemical Biological Defense Program (CBDP). The selected candidate must bring expert-level understanding of medical countermeasure development and must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
Roles/Responsibilities:
Provide senior-level technical and scientific expertise to support planning, execution, and evaluation of DoD-funded medical R&D programs
Analyze research portfolios involving vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics, and biosurveillance systems for chemical and biological threats
Translate complex scientific data into concise, actionable recommendations for military medical leadership and interagency stakeholders
Collaborate with DTRA JSTO-CBD, JPEO-CBD, USAMRDC laboratories, and allied scientific partners on strategic coordination efforts
Lead technical planning and data exchange for high-level forums
Prepare executive-level scientific reports, briefings, and documentation in compliance with DoD and DHA program standards
Required Skills and Education:
Ph.D. in a biomedical science, public health, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, or related scientific discipline
10+ years of professional experience supporting medical R&D, with a strong background in chemical and biological defense or related federal research programs
Deep understanding of DoD medical R&D structures, including CBDP, DTRA JSTO-CBD, JPEO-CBD, and USAMRDC
Proven ability to independently evaluate technical programs, develop briefings, and support interagency collaboration
Excellent scientific writing and verbal communication skills
Security Clearance:
Active DoD Secret is required
