Shipping Coordinator

Job Description

Vital Tech Solution is currently searching for a Direct Hire Shipping Coordinator for a top client in the Detroit, MI area.

Responsibilities

Monitor the progress of fabrication orders from inception through completion.

Work closely with fabrication supervisors and workers to ensure timely completion of steel components.

Organize shipping schedules based on the completion of fabrication jobs.

Develop efficient shipping routes for transporting fabricated steel components.

Determine the most suitable transportation modes based on dimensions and weight of steel pieces.

Build and maintain relationships with freight carriers to secure reliable transportation options.

Compile necessary documentation for each shipment, including bills of lading and packing lists.

Ensure all shipping paperwork meets industry regulations and standards.

Keep track of fabricated products ready for shipping to ensure adequate stock levels.

Utilize inventory management software to maintain accurate records of completed jobs.

Act as a liaison between the fabrication team, quality control, and shipping departments.

Communicate with project managers to confirm order details and delivery timelines.

Quickly resolve any shipping challenges that arise, such as delays or scheduling conflicts.

Develop protocols for handling damaged goods or incorrect shipments.

Implement safety protocols for loading and unloading heavy steel components.

Ensure that all shipments comply with local and federal regulations.

Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates and shipping costs.

Participate in process improvement efforts aimed at enhancing shipping efficiency.

Collaborate with quality control personnel to conduct final inspections of fabricated products before shipment.

Ensure that products are properly packaged for transport.

Requirements

Experience in shipping or logistics coordination.

MUST be well organized and computer savvy

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate effectively with various teams and stakeholders.

Proficiency in inventory management software and shipping documentation.

Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance related to shipping heavy materials.

Nice-to-haves

Experience in the structural steel fabrication industry.

Familiarity with freight carrier negotiation and relationship management.

Problem-solving skills to address shipping challenges effectively
