Senior Controls Engineer

Position Summary: The Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by using troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques with the overall objective of improving plant efficiencies. This individual will be required to develop, recommend and implement improvements to production processes, equipment, methods and controls. The incumbent will display a commitment to Core Values.

Working alongside your project team, you will develop systems architecture, design and specifications, and program, test, debug, and startup for PLC and SCADA/HMI systems that the team designs.

This position will be based at Return Polymers (RP) in Ashland OH, with responsibilities to support all RP sites as needed. Primary support would be in Ashland and Wilmington, OH.

Skills:

Understanding/expertise in the technical aspects of automation engineering.

Solve complex problems related to automation systems, design automation workflows.

Implement best practices.

Strong project management skills.

Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and customers to understand business drivers and define requirements.

Able to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members, as well as presenting project progress and updates to management.

Develop user and functional requirements and detailed design documents.

Perform test planning and development of factory and site test documents meeting GAMP and customer requirements. Primary duties and responsibilities:

Work as part of the RP team to continually improve standards of operation.

Integrates Lean/Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement in all projects.

Responsible for leading various project related to continuous improvement of equipment and processes within the manufacturing area.

Evaluate the performance of existing process.

Provides training to production and maintenance staff as required.

Set-up new or re-furbished equipment and perform the function of balancing and adjustment to enable the process to meet required specifications.

Perform internal and where required arrange external refurbishment of equipment

Assist in the original specification of equipment requirements for new products and processes.

Work with equipment vendors to troubleshoot process and tooling problems.

Assist with and where required to lead new project development activity.

Assist in the set-up of new equipment and processes.

Perform other assignments as required. Successful candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics)

2 to 5 years of experience as Controls/Automation engineer or industrial control system programmer

First-hand experience with startup/commissioning/deployment of systems into production environments is required

Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Exceptional communication skills for interface with customers, vendors, and other project team members

Ability to define, schedule and juggle tasks across multiple projects

Experience at a Systems Integrator firm a plus

Strong computer skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology. PLC Programming

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The annual salary for this position ranges from $107,600 in our lowest market up to $130,700 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. The pay for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific work location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
