General Description

Under the general direction of the Assistant Aquatics Manager, this position is responsible for the management and delivery of services to the public, oversight of admissions and daily operations at Warm Mineral Springs Park.

Essential Job Functions

Provides exceptional customer service to patrons and ensures consistent service delivery.

Supervises and evaluates assigned staff, including training and advising staff of expectations, rules and regulations, proper protocol, and internal controls.

Assists in recruiting and hiring qualified lifeguards, instructors, and all other pool staff; directly supervises lifeguards, instructors, and other aquatic staff.

Conducts training of staff in water safety, first aid, and CPR; ensures that all certifications of staff are maintained. Ensures high program standards are followed; provides regular in-service training to staff as needed.

Provide oversight of recreational processing software and troubleshoot as applicable.

Schedules and administers the work of assigned personnel to ensure facility is properly staffed, including tracking time and attendance.

Addresses issues pertaining to facility management and public participants.

Receives and responds to inquiries and provides general information to patrons and public.

Enforce park and facility rules to ensure a safe environment.

Prepares and compiles data for statistical summaries and reports related to admissions and attendance.

Ensures that facilities and grounds are maintained in a clean and safe condition.

Supervises staff on operational policies and procedures.

Assists with community outreach and marketing initiatives.

Assists with the implementation of professional standards related to national accreditation.

Performs related work as required or assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of principles and practices of recreation facility management.

Knowledge of principles and practices of employee supervision, leadership, coaching and evaluation.

Knowledge of cash handling procedures.

Skill in the use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.

Skill in using computers for word processing and accounting purposes.

Ability to interpret and implement customer service-related concepts, policies, and procedures to maintain and improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Ability to identify and resolve complex customer service requests and inquiries.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Ability to prepare statistical summaries and reports and maintain records.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written business communications.

Ability to develop and maintain a well-trained customer service team which delivers high quality customer service.

Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other employees, and the public.

Physical Activities:

The work is moderate: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 30 pounds of force to move objects and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additional requirements include balancing, bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

(Occasional=1-3 Hrs.; Frequent=3-5 Hrs.; Constant=5-8 Hrs. – Per Workday)

Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, management, business administration, public administration, or related field.

Two (2) years of full-time experience in aquatics, parks and recreation, and/or facility management or related field.

Two (2) years supervisory experience.

Current nationally accredited Lifeguard Certification and First Aid and CPR Certification.

Bilingual in English/Ukrainian or English/Russian highly preferred.

A comparable amount of training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)

Licenses and Certifications:

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license by date of hire.

Possession of or ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification or equivalent or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Emergency Response Responsibility

Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
