Description
The Moving and Events Crew Assistant is a full time 12-month staff position that will assist with moving, delivery, and event setup and take down. This position works on a two-man team to support events on the Senatobia campus during and after scheduled work hours, including athletics, performing arts, conferences and recreational student events reporting to the Assistant Director of Construction and Maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, commercial license considered a plus
Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver daily packages received at the warehouse to various departments on campus. Deliver bookstore purchases to departments on campus.
Deliver and set up tables, chairs, podiums, staging, tents, etc. for scheduled campus events, including Heindl Center, Haraway Center, McLendon Union, Farm Arena, Sporting events, etc.
Follow floor plan furniture layouts for seating layout, seating, count, and room occupancy requirements.
Provide moving services for departments on all campuses including, but not limited to, office/ classroom moves, furniture relocations, boxes, etc.
Install, mount, and assemble office and classroom furniture and equipment.
Provide work order response, as secondary crew as needed, based on workload.
Be available for scheduled after hour event setups as needed.
Assist any construction/ carpentry/ grounds crews as needed.
Assist with exterior maintenance and cleaning of porches and high work areas.
Respond to after hour emergencies and inclement weather events.
Participate in daily crew meetings. Attend safety meetings. Adhere to all health and safety precautions.
Maintain a professional work environment, abiding by NWCC rules and policies.
Any and all other duties as assigned by Assistant Director/ Director of Construction and Maintenance.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to read, interpret, and follow construction drawings and follow verbal instructions related to construction
Experience with small power hand tools for assembly
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Minor computer application skills to complete work order notes on a phone or tablet
Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with staff and others.
Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.
Flexible schedule is required to meet department needs, as some evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be required
After hours work for events set up and clean up required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do the following:

Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds, continuously walk, climb stairs, stand, bend, and squat.
Must be able to work in all outdoor seasonal conditions
Must be able to perform high work requiring stretching and reaching above head and shoulders, work from ladders, scaffold, or lift
