Job Summary:

Apply principles of logical and common sense thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Duties include reading manuals, providing translation, developing forms, books, scientific and technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and other documents written in the English language. Write letters, memorandums, business reports, manuals, and other documents in the English language. Provide translation to families and support parents with technology assistance as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Establish mutually respectful partnerships with families to enhance the quality of their lives and their communities.

Support families in efforts to reach their goals.

Support Family Engagement by ensuring that every parent has an opportunity for a significant experience in our instructional program and provide translations as necessary.

Provide opportunities for children and families to participate in family literacy activities and services. Provide virtual assistance to our students and the families to help with questions about technology.

Support families in accessing other community resources and also assist with food distributions for students and families.

Assist families in crisis.

Respect and respond competently to the culture, traditions, lifestyle, language and values of each family and community.

Contribute to effective program practices and maintain a commitment to professionalism.

Follows-up on absences/behavior according to the attendance/behavior policy. Reports status to all appropriate components working with the family.

Actively participates in planning and implementing parent meetings, family workshops/trainings and other events. Facilitates parent education, parenting classes and trainings as needed.

Other duties as assigned. Education, Training and Experience:

Associate degree in human services or related field or equivalent college credits (48 semester hours) OR passed the Work Keys Exam the District-approved assessment to meet the requirements of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) required at hire.

Two or more years' experience in working with families and community resources and working with people in crises situations. Bilingual/Spanish preferred.

Oral and written communication in English and Spanish, strong interpersonal, basic math, keyboarding, personal computer, word processing, organization, coordination, research and problem solving skills.

Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers, Microsoft Office applications and typical office equipment(e.g., phone fax machine, printer, copier, etc.).

Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of information received.

Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required
