Our Columbus, Ohio office currently seeks an experienced and active full-time CPA to join our busy trusts and estates practice. Position Summary:
This estate accountant role will assist with the preparation of estate, gift and income tax returns primarily in relation to the administration of trusts and estates but also for individuals. This position involves extensive client contact and independent work while collaborating with attorneys and other estate accountants in a collegial environment.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and file federal, state and local estate and trust income tax returns (Form 1041).
Prepare and file federal estate tax returns (Form 706).
Prepare and file federal gift tax returns (Form 709).
Prepare and file federal, state and local individual income tax returns (Form 1040).
Proactively gather client information and effectively communicate directly with clients.
Verify accuracy of returns prepared by other estate accountants.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of federal estate and gift tax laws
Knowledge of federal, state and local income tax laws
Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Excel
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage deadlines
Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of UltraTax
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
Active CPA
Preferred prior experience with a CPA office or law firm
