PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To accurately code Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) cases by reviewing surgical reports and monitoring logs, ensuring appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS code assignment. This role also involves reviewing payer guidelines and working closely with other revenue cycle departments to ensure compliance, minimize denials and support accurate reimbursement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Review surgical reports, neuromonitoring logs, and related clinical documentation to assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for IONM cases.
Enter codes accurately and timely into our billing system.
Apply current coding guidelines and payer-specific requirements to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
Verify documentation supports the codes assigned and meets billing and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with other departments including third party accounts receivable, compliance, and IONM clinical staff to resolve discrepancies and clarify documentation.
Identify trends or issues in coding or documentation and escalate as needed to leadership.
Complete coding reviews and provide timely responses to the accounts receivable team, providing documentation support for appeals and denials.
Maintain productivity and accuracy standards as defined by the department.
Stay up to date with changes in coding rules, payer policies, and CMS regulations related to IONM.
Protect patient privacy by adhering to HIPAA and all confidentiality regulations.
Build good rapport with team and other SpecialtyCare departments.
Provide clients with exceptional customer service.

Education
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A) certification required.
Experience:
One (1) years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Knowledge and Skills:

Salary: $46,000 - $75,000(Several factors, such as specific skill set, education level, certifications and years of experience, are considered to determine actual compensation.)
