Job Summary
As the Director of Admissions and Retention, you will lead the admissions process from inquiry through enrollment, ensuring prospective families have a supportive experience with clear expectations. You will play a key role in developing and executing recruitment and retention strategies, building relationships with potential students and their families, and collaborating with internal teams, including faculty and administration. Your role is critical in shaping the student body to align with FlexSchool's mission and values and helping families understand our specialized approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities
Admissions Strategy & Execution
Develop and implement a comprehensive admissions plan to set and meet enrollment goals.
Maintain and refine admissions processes that align with school values and promote a positive, transparent experience for families.
Develop a retention strategy and work with Heads of School to ensure that we can address concerns and can mitigate potential unenrollments.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee promotional events, campus tours, student interviews, and other admissions activities.
Hire, train, and supervise admission staff.
Maintain flexible work hours when admissions work requires attendance at evening or weekend events.
Manage F1 visa access and process, as needed.
Relationship Building & Outreach
Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective families, guiding them through the inquiry, evaluation, application, and enrollment processes.
Represent FlexSchool at external events, conferences, and fairs to build brand awareness and attract prospective students.
Build relationships with educational lawyers, educational consultants, and local private and special needs schools.
Work with marketing teams to develop effective admission materials, messaging, and campaigns.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Review and interpret student information, including testing scores, extracurricular activities, and grades.
Track and analyze admission data, identifying trends and opportunities to improve outreach and recruitment strategies.
Present regular admissions reports and enrollment forecasts to senior leadership.
Collaborate with school leadership on how to best utilize the feedback collected from families throughout the admissions process.
Compliance & Best Practices
Stay current with industry best practices, admission trends, and compliance requirements to ensure FlexSchool remains competitive and upholds high ethical standards.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; Master's degree is preferred.
5+ years of progressive admissions or enrollment management experience, ideally within private/independent schools or higher education.
Demonstrated experience building and leading an admissions team or department, including managing recruitment pipelines and meeting enrollment
targets.
Regular site visits to all physical campuses.
Ability to travel as needed.
Core Skills
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, set performance goals, and foster a collaborative environment.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with diverse audiences, including parents, students, educators, and community leaders.
Skilled in public speaking and presentations.
Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of cultivating partnerships and networks to support recruitment efforts.
Comfortable and effective in both one-on-one and group settings.
Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
Experience with enrollment management software.
Proficiency in standard office productivity tools (e.g. Google Workspace).
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of gifted and twice-exceptional education, or a similar specialized educational environment.
Familiarity with financial aid processes and policies.
Experience in a start-up or rapidly growing organization, bringing flexibility and innovative thinking to the role.
Salary range $100,000 - $120,000 per year.
