About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Process Engineer (native English speaker) to support our offshore oil & gas operations client. This expatriate role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in dynamic environments, has strong technical leadership skills, and is comfortable working on a rigorous rotation schedule.
The successful candidate will play a key role in pushing and guiding the detailed engineering contractor to ensure progress on delayed deliverables.
You will be stationed at the facility near Lagos, on a monthly rotating schedule between there and Houston with full logistical support, including visa processing, travel, accommodations, and local transport.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and optimize oil, gas, and water treatment processes offshore to improve uptime and reliability.
Lead process troubleshooting efforts and provide engineering support to offshore teams.
Review and push, the detailed engineering contractor, to maintain design and execution schedules.
Update and validate process engineering documents including PFDs, P&IDs, and simulation models.
Participate in HAZOP, risk assessments, and process safety evaluations.
Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams for commissioning and brownfield modifications.
Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulations and international process safety standards.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Process Engineering.
5+ years of experience in offshore or upstream oil & gas production roles.
Fluent/native English speaker (mandatory, per client request).
Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, or equivalent simulation tools.
Solid knowledge of offshore systems (FPSO, gas compression, separation trains).
Valid BOSIET certification (or willing to obtain).
Strong communication and contractor management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing or coordinating with third-party engineering contractors.
Prior rotational work or expatriate experience in West Africa or similar environments.
Knowledge of Nigerian offshore oil & gas regulatory landscape.
