Senior Cloud Maintenance Engineer - AWS Cloud Maintenance
Location: Remote (Must support Eastern, Central, or Mountain Time Zones)

Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Sr. Cloud Maintenance Engineer to manage the daily operations, maintenance, and long-term reliability of AWS cloud infrastructure. This critical role ensures infrastructure health through proactive patching, monitoring, documentation, and compliance. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, secure configurations, and optimal performance of cloud resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and update runner images and Docker containers
Ensure proper resource tagging and perform cleanup of inactive runners
Perform Infrastructure as Code (IaC) maintenance and hygiene
Track, maintain, and update vendor container images
Conduct routine system checks, backups, and software updates
Maintain up-to-date documentation of infrastructure, change processes, and maintenance procedures
Perform patch assessments and maintenance for infrastructure and third-party software
Develop and manage patch testing schedules, including rollback and recovery plans
Maintain infrastructure currency metrics and reporting dashboards
Ensure data persistence and durability using appropriate AWS services and tiers
Create and manage change records, and participate in Agile ceremonies including PI Planning
Maintain cloud compliance with internal security policies and external regulations
Contribute to and maintain pre-check and post-check scripts for system health validations
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
8+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 2 years in cloud infrastructure support or maintenance
Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also accepted)
Experience managing cloud infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, and DevOps pipelines
Proficient in scripting languages for automation and monitoring (Bash, Python)
One or more cloud certifications (e.g., AWS DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect Associate)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to diagnose and resolve cloud performance issues
Experience with writing pre-check/post-check scripts for system health and deployment validation
Familiarity with cloud compliance standards, infrastructure reporting, and cost optimization
