Mineral Sourcing Specialist

Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are seeking a Mineral Sourcing Specialist in our Sourcing department at our Columbus, Ohio location.

Key Duties:

Identify minerals and chemicals of potential strategic importance to Allied Mineral Products (AMP) and its affiliates, both globally and within geographic areas of Allied manufacturing plants, to localize raw materials and decrease the cost of production for all Allied affiliates.

Develop information regarding potential sources and channels for the acquisition of those minerals and chemicals, including current and potential producers, processors, and traders, to analyze mineral reserves and capacities, specifications, quality, reliability, pricing, and trends.

Identify potential sources and channels for the acquisition of minerals and chemicals, encompassing current and potential producers, processors, and traders, and involving mineral reserves and capacities, specifications, quality, reliability, pricing, and trends. Support Allied Minerals Russia (AMR) and Allied Minerals Europe, B.V. (AME), our Production, Purchasing, Research and Development centers at AMP and Allied Mineral Products (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. (AMT), to continuously improve Allied’s refractory minerals sourcing strategy and practices.

Collaborate with Allied’s Purchasing, R&D, and Quality Assurance departments to ensure that the refractory minerals and chemical approval process is effective and in line with purchasing strategies.

Support company executives, including Managing Directors, AMR and AME; the Global Sourcing Director and the Corporate Vice President, Strategy, Innovation and Technology; the Global Manager, Raw Materials and Process Quality, the Research Manager, and R&D staff, to coordinate the new source approval process, secure transport of refractory minerals and chemicals from the suppliers’ plant to Allied’s plants.

Obtain mineral samples, direct sample testing, conduct supplier quality audits, and provide recommendations to executive personnel based on the results of those tests and audits.

Conduct vendor analysis and screening to select the best potential suppliers for each refractory raw material.

Prepare quarterly reports to Allied and Affiliated Company management regarding refractory minerals and chemical pricing trends, plus other relevant information regarding trends in the refractory minerals industry.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or foreign equivalent.

Two years of mining and mineral extraction experience, including sourcing and acquisition of refractory and raw minerals for business and manufacturing operations.
