Summary
The Controller will serve as a key member of Nor-Cal Pipeline Services leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations for Cal-Cal Pipeline Services and its subsidiary companies Jaeger Vacuum Excavation and Guardian Traffic Solutions. This role is critical to ensuring financial integrity, driving operational efficiency, and supporting the companys growth objectives. The Controller will lead a team of accounting professionals while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.

Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and manage accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Coordinate and manage audits, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements.
Maintain and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with financial regulations and safeguard company assets.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Monitor and manage cash flow to support operational needs and long-term strategies.
Support operational decisions by providing financial analysis and modeling for various projects and initiatives.
Collaborate with the CFO and senior leadership to provide strategic financial insights that align with the companys objectives.
Operational Finance & Process Improvement
Ensure the proper management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Evaluate and implement systems, processes, and controls to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights and drive cost efficiencies.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Set clear goals and expectations for the team, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
Strategic Initiatives & Risk Management
Support mergers, acquisitions, and other growth initiatives with due diligence and integration planning.
Identify and mitigate financial risks while exploring opportunities for revenue growth and profitability improvement.
Qualification Requirements
Education & Certification
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters degree or MBA preferred)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation required
Experience
Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Proven success managing audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance
Hands-on experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including financial due diligence and integration
Technical & Financial Skills
In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities to support operational decision-making
Proficiency with accounting systems and ERP software (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, or similar platforms)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting functions
Experience designing and implementing internal controls, automation, and process improvements
