General Description
Creighton Community Foundation was established to support Creighton School District and the communities within its east central Phoenix boundaries by bringing resources to bear upon life needs and whole person development of people within some of the poorest neighborhoods in urban Phoenix. CCF strengthens these school-centered neighborhoods by addressing hunger, nutrition, and community connectivity. Food access serves as a foundational engagement point, making this role critical to sustaining CCFs outreach and impact. The Food Coordinator ensures the smooth operation of food programs, fostering a welcoming environment and cultivating lasting community relationships.
Position Description
The Food Coordinator is responsible for managing weekly food distribution, engaging volunteers, coordinating food inventory, and supporting complementary food programs. The role requires attention to detail, adaptability, and leadership to sustain efficient and dignified food access for the community.
Essential Responsibilities & Time Allocation
1. Operate Emergency Hunger Relief Weekend Food Distribution 55%
Oversee weekly mobile food distribution, ensuring seamless execution, including site preparation, food management, and volunteer coordination.
Manage inventory and orders from multiple suppliers (e.g., St. Marys, Midwest Food Bank), ensuring sufficient stock and cost-efficient food sourcing.
Maintain accurate tracking of food received, identifying gaps, and adjusting distribution plans accordingly.
Develop bilingual food box flyers and messaging, including nutrition resources and recipes.
Ensure accurate data collection and reporting to partner organizations.
Adapt and problem-solve for unforeseen logistical challenges while maintaining a hospitable distribution experience.
2. Cultivate a Community of Participants 25%
Create a welcoming, organized volunteer environment, including recruitment, assignments, and recognition.
Engage food recipients to foster deeper connections with CCF programs and services.
Coordinate communications and outreach, including text messaging, bilingual materials, and printed resources.
Promote SNAP enrollment efforts at food distributions and ensure integration with hunger relief programs.
Work with the marketing team to capture and share stories that highlight food program impact.
3. Cultivate Food and Resource Partnerships 15%
Identify and sustain relationships with food donors, community partners, and volunteers.
Organize seasonal donation drives and funding opportunities (e.g., tax credit campaigns).
Explore opportunities for nutritional enhancements within budget constraints.
Foster youth engagement and leadership within food programs.
4. Support and Connect with Complementary Food Programs 5%
Coordinate with and provide support for complementary food initiatives, ensuring integration and efficiency. Programs include:
FrescaZona Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Supporting affordable, healthy food access for families.
Medical Food Box Program Partnering with healthcare providers to connect patients with nutritious food.
Food Pantries Collaborating with sites to sustain emergency food access.
SNAP Enrollment Programs Supporting outreach and engagement strategies.
Qualifications
Experience in food operations, volunteer coordination, or nonprofit programming.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage inventory, logistics, and transportation of food supplies.
Experience working with diverse communities in a welcoming and inclusive manner.
Basic knowledge of food safety and nutrition preferred.
Spanish fluency preferred.
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
