We are seeking an experienced Client Accounting Services Manager to lead our accounting and payroll team. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality accounting, payroll and bookkeeping services, manage client relationships, and drive process improvements. You will serve as a mentor to staff, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and be a primary point of contact for our valued clients.Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, schedule, and conduct monthly payroll meetings with staff and management.
Create and maintain annual team schedules; communicate changes as needed.
Mentor, train, and support accounting and payroll staff, ensuring high performance.
Coordinate staff training and oversee the 1099 process.
Implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
Client Engagement & Service Delivery
Manage client engagements for accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining strong relationships.
Review and complete accounting and payroll work for clients on a regular basis.
Provide advisory services on best practices, compliance, and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to expand services and participate in business development.
Technical & Administrative
Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and accounting records.
Manage bank reconciliations, sales tax filings, and 1099 preparation.
Respond to IRS/State tax notices and assist with accounts payable.
Support clients with accounting software (primarily QuickBooks), including conversions and troubleshooting.
Maintain pricing templates and assist with client billing.
Professional Development & Compliance
Stay current with technical competencies and industry trends.
Participate in ongoing training and continuing education.
Research and resolve complex accounting and payroll issues.
Uphold the confidentiality of client and firm information.Qualifications
Associate's degree in accounting required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
5+ years' experience in accounting, payroll, and bookkeeping services.
Prior experience in a public accounting office strongly preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and related accounting software.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Certification by the American Payroll Association and/or QuickBooks Pro-Advisor is a plus.
Working knowledge of payroll, accounting regulations, 1099s, and payroll tax returns required.Physical Requirements
