CapSpecialty is seeking for a Head of Infrastructure who will be responsible for leading the technology infrastructure for the enterprise. This includes developing the technology strategy, strategic project execution, and ensuring daily operations meet service level agreements (SLAs). The technology infrastructure includes data center, network and server services, telephony, service monitoring, user support/help desk, workstation management, servers, storage, and related software. In addition, the role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s technical infrastructure, cost optimization, automation, working with Information Security to ensure proper security measures are in place, evaluating and deploying new technology solutions, and collaborating with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Ensures daily operations meet or exceed service level agreements (SLAs). Execute a continuous improvement program to drive and track improvements in operational efficiency, service levels, and cost optimization.

Develops the infrastructure strategy to align with the broader IT and Business Strategies.

Responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of the infrastructure team as well as long-term planning which includes staffing, budgeting, training, and technology.

Manage vendor partners and ensure adherence to service level standards.

Assess requirements, design, and develop new systems to support the business requirements. Develops associated budgets, staffing, and execution plans for project execution.

Responsible for technical currency. Ensures upgrades and sunsetting of outdated technology adhere to security policies and technology standards.

Collaborate with other IT Managers and the Security team to ensure effective cross-functional teamwork, and execution of short and long-term company priorities.

Partner with CISO and Security team to develop, implement, and ensure adherence to security policies, standards, and procedures.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, external and internal audits. Also collaborates with other departments as necessary to ensure all certifications are met and renewed / updated as per requirement.

Oversee Incident Management and provide high-level analysis for IT support issues and report to management as needed.

Collaborate with Business Continuity teams to develop strategies and plan activities for Disaster Recovery

Manage the purchase, acquisition, installation, licensing, asset inventory, and user training of all computing hardware and software.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Management and leadership of team members in areas of responsibility. Drive talent management into the organization by ensuring development/succession plans are in place and by providing timely feedback to team members, such as 1:1 or quarterly feedback meetings. Recruit, hire, develop, train, and manage the performance of staff in both the technical duties and professional aspects of their performance.

Core Competencies:

Possess broad conceptual understanding of capabilities and direction of technology, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the technology required and the needs of the business environment necessary to support assigned projects.

Ability to assimilate disparate information from across the organization to develop execution strategies, prioritization, capacity planning, and effectively communicate issues and risks.

Understand, on an in-depth basis, staff roles and abilities and provide input regarding their development needs.

In-depth knowledge of infrastructure technology, security and network operations, and support procedures. Advanced analysis and decision making are required along with strong management and supervisory experience.

Proven ability to deal well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs and delivering measurable results in an agile, fast-paced environment. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and time-management skills.

The ability to develop collaborative working relationships across various technical and business units with high levels of enthusiasm, energy, and goal-orientation.

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to present complex technical topics to a wide range of internal and external audiences.

Must be highly self-motivated requiring minimal direction.

Education and Experience:

10+ years related experience (e.g., Server, Network Engineering, Data Center Operations)

5+ years’ experience managing and leading others.

Prior experience in strategy development and leading implementation.

Proven ability to manage vendors, contractors, and project budgets.

Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred.

Prior experience within the P&C industry is preferred.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

May be required to lift up to 15 lbs. at times.

Customary business travel including air and car travel may be required on occasion.
