Operations Research Analyst

As an Operations Research Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing datasets provided by Department of Defense (DoD) customers, identifying trends and anomalies, and utilizing this information for forecasting purposes.

Essential Job Functions:
Decision Support Analysis:
Support and/or lead Business Case Analysis (BCA) and Economic Analysis (EA) studies.
Lead stakeholder engagement and study scoping efforts.
Lead, develop, update, and apply mathematical and logical methodologies for estimating program benefits, costs, and risks.
Lead, develop, update, manipulate, and maintain cost and affordability models.
Lead efforts in collecting, normalizing, and analyzing complex data.
Evaluate program investment and acquisition strategies and courses of action.
Conduct planning for acquisition of capabilities.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Collect, process, and analyze complex datasets provided by DoD customers to extract meaningful insights.
Utilize statistical methods, modeling techniques, and optimization algorithms to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
Client Interfacing:
Work closely with clients to understand their operational needs and requirements.
Develop tailored analytics and reporting solutions to meet specific client demands and enhance decision-making processes.
Forecasting:
Utilize advanced forecasting models to predict future trends and outcomes based on historical data and current inputs.
Provide accurate and timely forecasts to assist clients in strategic planning and resource allocations.
Department of Defense Knowledge: Possess a strong knowledge base in Department of Defense operations, policies, and procedures.
Stay informed about the latest developments and changes within the DoD to ensure analyses align with current defense priorities.
DoD Acquisition Programs:
Demonstrate experience and familiarity with DoD Acquisition programs and processes.
Apply expertise to assess and optimize acquisition strategies, resource allocation, and program management.
Support on-site delivery in the Quantico and Stafford areas.
Skills and Qualifications Required: [SD1]
US Citizenship required.
Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Problem Solving and Analytical Skills - Ability to identify problems, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
Mathematical & Statistical Knowledge - Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques such as Python, R, or similar languages.
Communication Skills - Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
Proven experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and forecasting, with a focus on defense-related datasets.
Experience supporting BCAs, AoAs, EA or other analytical studies.
Previous work experience in the defense sector, particularly with DoD Acquisition programs.
Experience with data visualization tools and techniques to effectively communicate findings.
