Job Posting: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant Company: Mfinite Consulting Location: Hybrid (Annapolis, MD & Remote)

About the Role: Mfinite Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator to manage and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments for our client. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices. The consultant will work in a hybrid setting, with three days onsite in Annapolis, MD, and two days remote.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers across development, testing, and production environments.

Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.

Implement automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.

Configure and maintain Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other RHEL ecosystem tools.

Collaborate with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.

Maintain and optimize storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

Support application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.

Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Participate in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.

Set up Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.

Configure Cron jobs for both systems and applications.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree or postgraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field (degrees in Agricultural and Resource Economics or Business Administration are not considered related).

Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification (current or non-current, with valid certification ID).

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.

10+ years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.

15+ years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience working in complex networked system environments with strong networking.

Expertise in administering systems such as Oracle WebLogic Servers, Oracle Database Servers, Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge, Apache Web Servers, vSphere hosted RHEL Servers, Rubrik backup systems, Oracle Database backups, PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI, and CVS (Concurrent Version System).

Proficiency in Red Hat performance tuning, load balancing, partitioning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.

Ability to troubleshoot at the OS, database, and application levels.

Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Work Environment:

Hybrid work schedule: Three days onsite at Maryland Judiciary Information Systems, 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD, and two days remote.

On-site support may be required within 24 hours of notification.

Flexibility to extend coverage hours or schedule to meet deadlines, project requirements, and on-call operational support, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Information:

A two- to four-week training period will be provided to acclimate the consultant to the methods, processes, equipment, and software used by the Maryland Judiciary.

Remote work must be performed within the United States unless prior approval is obtained.
