About This Role:
Privateer is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Are you passionate about outcomes and supporting a development team that’s creating efficiency in VA healthcare? As a Scrum master, you know the importance of Agile best practices and how to combat challenges early to get work done. We need a Scrum master like you to help us accomplish critical projects that’ll modernize the face of our Veterans healthcare.
On our team, you’ll apply your functional knowledge to coach a development team to focus on sprint goals, ensuring the project is successfully progressed. You’ll apply basic Scrum principles and concepts to resolve routine problems. Using tools like Jira and Microsoft Office applications, you’ll strengthen sustainable process improvements to help your team accomplish sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives. In this role, you’ll directly impact veterans by modernizing software platforms for veterans. This is an opportunity to grow your experience in tactical planning and delivery while developing and contributing to a variety of project solutions that will improve veteran’s access to healthcare.

You Have:
2-3 years’ experience in a Scrum Master role
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Certification or other Scrum Master certification
Familiarity with software development and the SDLC
Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
Familiarity with other Agile frameworks and techniques such as Kanban, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, continuous testing, pairing, or Agile games
Knowledge of techniques used to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach, numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, or handling bugs
Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
Experience with problem-solving and conflict-resolution
Outstanding organizational skills
Experience with MS Teams online collaboration tools
Ability to communicate technical ideas in a non-technical way
Ability to facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
Experience using Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira)
Ability to educate teams on refining and maintaining the product backlog
Ability to help software development teams apply the Scrum framework
Experience planning deliverables and helping teams monitor performance
Experience resolving issues that hinder the teams’ work
Manage each project’s scope and timeline
Ability to coordinate sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups
Ability to facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration
Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Professional Certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
