Job Title: EC&I Engineer
Location: Fife (on-site 4+ days per week)
Contract: Inside of IR35
Overview:
We are currently seeking an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to support the delivery of a major, high-profile capital project entering its commissioning phase. The project, valued at over £20 million, is part of a long-term investment in advanced manufacturing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialist EC&I engineering support across the full project lifecycle – from requirements definition to commissioning and closure
Lead or contribute to the development of technical specifications in collaboration with operations, maintenance, and project stakeholders
Manage or support risk assessments including HAZOP, CHAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and SIS processes
Support robust safety documentation and ensure adherence to CDM 2015 and other safety regulations
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment throughout project phases
Manage external contractors and suppliers, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of scope
Oversee commissioning and site-based activities, maintaining a visible presence during critical phases (minimum 4 days/week on site)
Monitor project budgets, schedules, and reporting to ensure targets are met
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout project delivery
Key Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in EC&I engineering within capital projects
Strong knowledge of process control systems (hardware & software)
Experience in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), ideally within liquid processing or packaging environments
Involvement in commissioning and site installation
Robust understanding of HAZOP, CHAZOP, LOPA, SIL, SIS, PUWER, and DSEAR processes
Risk management and safety documentation development experience
Effective stakeholder communication and engagement skills
NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification desirable
Experience managing end-to-end project lifecycle preferred (for senior candidates)
Work Environment:
Site-based role with regular presence required across two nearby locations (approx. 1 mile apart)
Collaborative team environment working alongside other EC&I Engineers and multi-discipline project teams
Project entering critical commissioning phase with long-term programme planned over the next four years
