Controller

Due to an impending retirement, our client needs a Divisional Controller who will oversee their accounting operations in their 2 Wisconsin sawmills. This position leads the financial and administrative staff at the plants and is accountable for plant-level responsibilities, including general accounting, payables, order entry, billing, cost accounting, fixed assets, business analysis and financial reporting. You will also liaison with corporate staff. You will report to the CFO/V.P. of Finance.

What you will be doing:

Manage the Divisions financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and annual audit. Ensure that the financial transactions, policies and procedures meet the organization's short and long-term business objectives and are conducted in accordance with regulations, accounting principles and standards.

Establish (in coordination with Sawmill Division Manager and CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring and reporting standards on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.

Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on strategic planning, operating efficiency, capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations.

Further develop, implement and maintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, workflows and internal financial controls, to maximize protection of company assets and minimize risk.

Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements and periodic financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP. Ensure the timely reporting of key financial data and updates to the Sawmill Division Manager
