As the Controller in our DataServ team, you will play a leading role in our Accounting and Financial Services team as you manage the preparation, compilation, and analysis of the financial activities and statements for our growing organization. This position will report to our CFO and work cross-functionally with the sales, operations, finance, and executive leadership teams.
On a day-to-day basis, this role oversees and executes normal accounting operations, reconciliations, and closes, and directs finance in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and projections. What you’ll do:
Represent DataServ in a positive manner to colleagues, customer base and vendors.
Create and maintain clean and accurate accounting records
Direct ownership and company lead for all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations, reconciliations, and monthly and annual closings including, but not limited to:
Oversee revenue and expense entries and associated schedules
Ensure proper matching and allocation of costs against revenue to comply with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements
Calculate and reconcile sales commission calculations and payments
Manage inventory workflow, tracking valuation and overseeing monthly reconciliations
Actively manage or execute balance sheet and supporting schedule reconciliations
Conduct thorough analysis to identify and rectify discrepancies and variances in revenue or expenses
Monitor and proactively manage accounts receivable and payable
Monitor and forecast cash flow and reconciliations
Manage the preparation and filing of sales and use tax reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual business and departmental financial statement preparation
Execute and manage annual external audits and income tax filings
Provide redundancy and backup support for other team members
Support the CFO with financial analysis and forecasting and the advancement of accounting operations
Lead the development and implementation of new accounting and business policies and procedures
Provide financial insights to support decision making and strategic planning
Co-manage the preparation and creation of annual budget and quarterly reforecasts
All other duties as assigned.
Additional proficiencies we seek:
Experience with project and recurring revenue recognition and sales and use tax
Experience with private equity or other institutional investment preferred
Deep understanding of G/L software systems
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong verbal and written communications and time management skills
Critical and analytical thinking skills
Insatiable desire for detail
Hunger to advance and grow
CPA
What we require:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred
7+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting
Previous controller experience
Good working knowledge and understanding of complex and technical GAAP-compliant accounting
Possess a natural curiosity and drive to continuously improve
Honesty, integrity, and the desire to contribute to and support a close-knit team
