CDL-A Local Toter Driver

Department: Dispatch, Customer Service

Job Summary:

The CDL Local Toter Driver is responsible for operating trucks over 5 tons to safely transport, deliver, relocate, and retrieve modular units, containers, and materials from job sites. This role includes on-site setup and takedown of units, installation of Value-Added Products and Services (VAPS), and ensuring the safety and readiness of units during transport.

The CDL Local Toter Driver is expected to adhere strictly to Wilmot Modular’s operational standards, safety protocols, and all applicable state and federal regulations. Success in this position requires strong time management, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

Transport, deliver, relocate, and remove modular units and related products (e.g., storage containers, wide-loads), with most assignments being local.

Perform unit setup and takedown, including blocking, leveling, anchoring, and removal of materials during pickup.

Install tie-downs and VAPS (Value-Added Products and Services) as required on-site.

Load and unload trucks, including steps, pads, and piers.

Maintain a valid, clean driver’s record with strict adherence to all safety protocols.

Complete and submit all required paperwork, including daily logs and customer signatures.

Maintain truck logs per state and federal DOT regulations.

Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of truck equipment (tires, lights, brakes, fluids) to ensure roadworthiness.

Communicate consistently with dispatch for instructions and updates on delivery status or vehicle issues.

Perform minor roadside repairs (e.g., changing tires, fuses, bulbs).

Ensure timely, complete, and damage-free deliveries and returns

Represent Wilmot Modular professionally in appearance, behavior, and customer interactions.

Comply with all Wilmot safety and transportation policies; attend scheduled safety meetings.

May be assigned Service Technician duties as needed (refer to Service Tech JD).

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required (college degree not necessary)

Must be at least 21 years of age

Valid CDL license with clean driving record

Current DOT medical certificate and physical card (required)

Completed Driver Qualification File (DQF) from prior CDL employment (required)

Any certifications mandated by specific customers or job sites

Proven experience in commercial driving; wide-load hauling preferred

Experience with modular unit setup and takedown is a plus

Clear and professional verbal communication skills; able to interact with contractors, customers, and cross-functional teams including Sales and Operations

Comfortable using technology, including Microsoft Word, email, Salesforce, phones, and basic office equipment

Self-starter with strong attention to detail; able to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong sense of integrity, reliability, and accountability

Willingness and ability to travel to multiple job sites and work environments

Committed to following all safety standards and proceduresPhysical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly

Capable of working across varied environments: office settings, shops, and active construction sites

Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

Proficient in using hand tools and equipment safely and effectively

Comfortable climbing ladders up to 25 feet

Ability to drive and remain seated in a truck for extended periods daily

Must meet vision and hearing requirements necessary for job and road safety
