Duration: Project-Based (Estimated 3 months, part-time)
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Pay: $25 / hour
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced author or writer to support the completion of a non-fiction book centered on a historically significant location. The book is partially written and requires additional content development, editing, and refinement. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the primary author to complete the book, contributing both ghostwritten and co-developed material. This is a behind-the-scenes role, and may have a citation but won't be credited as an author.
Key Responsibilities:
Review existing manuscript / rough draft content and understand the book’s tone, structure, and objectives.
Ghostwrite and/or expand sections of the book based on provided outlines, notes, interviews, and primary sources.
Conduct supplementary historical research to support factual accuracy and narrative depth.
Edit and refine previously written content for clarity, consistency, tone, and historical integrity.
Collaborate with the author and/or editorial team to align content with the overarching structure and vision of the book.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience writing non-fiction content, preferably on historical, cultural, or heritage-related topics.
Experience with ghostwriting, collaborative writing, or editorial development for long-form works.
Strong research and synthesis skills, with the ability to distill complex historical information into accessible, engaging prose.
Preferred Qualifications:
Published author of non-fiction books or comparable long-form works.
Academic or professional background in history, journalism, creative non-fiction, or a related field.
Prior experience working on projects involving historical preservation, cultural heritage, or tourism-related content.
