TITLE: HR Generalist I

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

REPORTS TO: Human Resource Director

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

Summary: The HR Generalist I is responsible for organizing and assisting in various Human Resources functions, including but not limited to, maintaining employee records, onboarding, employee relations, recruitment and hiring.

Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

Talk with supervisors to gather job and qualifications information.

Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.

Maintain up to date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.

Assist with payroll processing.

Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, and company policies.

Monitor employee morale and company culture.

Collaborate with the human resource team to develop effective Human resource strategies.

Maintain employee personnel records.

Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Review existing HR forms, systems, procedures, and record keeping methods.

Meet with new employees to explain benefit package, options, and selections to be made.

Manage specialized HR management programs such as summer and/or youth employment and employee wellness.

Notify department employees, supervisors, and managers about program plans, requirements, and schedules.

Process employment verification requests from third parties (e.g., lenders, background check companies) in compliance with company policy and privacy laws.

Complete and certify Employment Certification Forms.

Represent the organization at job fairs, career expos, and community employment activities.

Assist in planning and setting up recruitment booths, marketing materials, and informational presentations at events.

Assist with implementation of employee retention strategies and programs.

Conduct stay and exit interviews; identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Perform related work as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The HR Administrator I has supervisory responsibility for approximately 0 direct reports.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least three years of human resource experience preferred.

Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)

A criminal background check is required.
