Virtual EBD Specialist Teacher - Columbus Ohio Schools

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with emotional and behavioral challenges through our innovative virtual special education program. This specialized position bines therapeutic approaches with academic instruction to support students' social-emotional and educational growth.

Program Overview Full-time mitment of 35-37.5 hours weekly, serving students with emotional behavioral disorders across grades K-12. Caseload typically ranges from 25-35 students requiring intensive behavioral support and therapeutic educational services alongside academic instruction.

Therapeutic Educational Approach

Implement evidence-based behavioral interventions through virtual platforms

Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support via video conferencing

Develop and monitor behavior intervention plans with family and school collaboration

Facilitate virtual counseling groups focused on social skills and emotional regulation

Support students in developing coping strategies and self-management skills

Coordinate with mental health professionals and munity agencies

Provide academic instruction with trauma-informed teaching practicesStudent Population Characteristics Work with students experiencing various emotional and behavioral challenges including anxiety disorders, depression, oppositional behaviors, and trauma-related responses. Many students require intensive support to participate successfully in educational environments.

Specialized Qualifications

Master's degree in Special Education with EBD endorsement or related mental health field

Valid Ohio special education teaching license with emotional behavioral disorders authorization

Minimum 2 years of experience with students with emotional behavioral challenges

Training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques

Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and therapeutic teaching approaches

Experience with virtual counseling or therapeutic services preferred

Understanding of mental health systems and munity resources

Strong emotional resilience and self-care practicesCollaborative Partnerships Work closely with school counselors, social workers, mental health professionals, and families to provide prehensive support. This role requires excellent munication skills and ability to coordinate plex service plans.

Safety and Support Systems prehensive training provided in virtual crisis intervention, safety planning, and emergency protocols. Our team provides ongoing consultation and support for challenging situations.
