Job Title: Controller (Landscaping & Construction)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of our landscaping and construction business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, job costing, and cash flow management, with the ability to oversee financial reporting and support project-driven financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including job costing, payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and general ledger

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports tailored to project performance reports

Track budgets and costs for multiple ongoing projects; work closely with project managers to ensure accurate billing and cost control

Maintain WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules and revenue recognition aligned with project timelines

Manage cash flow forecasting to account for seasonal income and expenses

Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and local permitting costs

Lead preparation for annual audits and liaise with external auditors and financial institutions

Oversee lien waivers, subcontractor payments, and compliance documentation

Supervise accounting staff and continuously evaluate and enhance accounting systems and procedures

Report directly to the Owner. providing financial insights and support for strategic planning

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

5+ years of experience in construction or project-based accounting

Knowledge of construction management software; including QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.

Familiarity with job costing, WIP accounting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition

Experience managing business email communications and prioritizing financial tasks accordingly

Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
