We are looking for a positive, customer service focused individual with a passion for serving older adults. This position requires enthusiasm for variety and learning new things. We need an avid reader with a broad knowledge of books and movies. Our preferred candidate will have strong planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to deadline.
Responsibilities include:
Facilitate senior programs, discussions, and tech classes and contribute to book displays, blogs and book lists
Connect customers with area senior and accessibility resources
Assist with planning, development, and scheduling senior classes and programs
Provide readers' advisory and help library customers at the Arlington Heights Senior Center to select and borrow the latest books and movies
Select and deliver materials to community residents at their homes, healthcare sites and senior living communities
Provide support and training for our senior volunteer staff
Requirements & Skills
Passion for serving senior audiences required
Strong planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to deadline
Positive and friendly customer service attitude and strong organizational skills
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Apple and/or Android devices to support tech classes.
Excellent written & verbal communications, including presentations
Current knowledge and demonstrated interest in popular culture, such as books, music, and movies. Include a list of the books you have read in the last year with your letter of interest
Demonstrated experience with adult group facilitation preferred
Must have valid driver’s license. Must have reliable transportation to work at multiple locations in same day.
The preferred candidate must also demonstrate ability to work effectively with staff and customers in alignment with Our Culture and IDEA.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required.
Hours and Scheduling: Part-time position 20 hours/week. Weekdays are day shifts. Must be flexible to work Saturday mornings 1-2x/month & occasional evening programs.
