Sr. Project Manager - VMware to Nutanix Migration experience

Connection has a fantastic opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for a Sr. Project Manager to lead and oversee a large-scale global VMware to Nutanix migration project in the Chicagoland area.

This role will serve as the primary liaison between our partner, Connection, and our client, ensuring a smooth transition of over 15,000 VMs globally.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical understanding of VMware and Nutanix platforms, proven experience in enterprise-level infrastructure migrations, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary project liaison between the partner, Connection, and stakeholders

Oversee and manage all project phases of the VMware to Nutanix migration

Lead and document project meetings, with regular updates to Connection executive leadership

Monitor migration progress and ensure alignment with project timelines and milestones

Create and maintain detailed project plans, reports, and schedules

Manage billing, documentation, and reporting across multiple project management tools

Identify and mitigate risks and issues throughout the migration lifecycle

Coordinate change management activities and support global teams as needed

Qualifications:

8+ years of Project Management experience, ideally in IT infrastructure or data center migration projects

Strong technical knowledge of VMware and Nutanix environments

Proven experience managing global-scale migrations or infrastructure transformations

Familiarity with enterprise PM tools like Planview, MS Project, JIRA, etc.

Excellent stakeholder communication, reporting, and executive presentation skills

Ability to work independently while managing third-party vendors and internal teams

Located in Illinois with the ability to attend meetings at North Chicago as needed.

Preferred:

PMP, Scrum Master, or other Project Management certifications

Prior involvement in hybrid cloud or on-prem to hyperconverged infrastructure migrations.
