First Shift: Monday - Friday & Every Other Saturday, 5:00AM - 3:30PM CST
Second Shift: Monday - Friday & Every Other Saturday, 4:00PM - 2:30AM CST (+2 shift
differential)
The Fabricator position with Medix is a 3-month contract-to-hire opporutnity with a leading manufacturer of large engines and generator systems with facilities in Darien and Beloit, Wisconsin. In this role, you will be responsible for the metal
fabrication of large generators and enclosure systems used in critical backup power applications
for facilities such as hospitals and data centers.
Scope of Work:
Under the guidance of the Metal Processing Team Lead, the Fabrication Team Member is
responsible for the setup, operation, and basic maintenance of various metal fabrication
machines. This role ensures accurate and quality-driven cutting, bending, and forming of metal
components in accordance with engineering blueprints, customer specifications, and safety
standards. The position supports high-volume manufacturing operations by contributing to
productivity, precision, and adherence to operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Operation:
Operate metal fabrication machinery including brakes, rolls, shears, saws, and
presses.
Interpret blueprints and specifications to produce components to exact
tolerances.
Quality Assurance & Inspection:
Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet engineering drawings and quality
standards.
Follow Control Plan instructions for verification and documentation.
Safety & Maintenance:
Perform routine machine maintenance following Daily Maintenance Checklists.
Follow all safety procedures including proper use of PPE, ergonomic tools, and
safe lifting practices (team lifts for items over 40 lbs).
Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure safe handling of materials and
waste.
Documentation & Process Control:
Complete necessary documentation related to production, inspection, and
maintenance.
Follow standard procedures for tooling setup, material handling, and process
verification.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience).
Ability to perform math functions related to measurements, fractions, and ratios.
Proficient in reading blueprints and mechanical diagrams.
Skilled in using micrometers, calipers, hand tools, and various inspection gauges.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or ISO9001 standards.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus, but not required.
