Job Description
CNC field service involves on-site support and maintenance of CNC machinery. This includes installing, repairing, and troubleshooting CNC machines and their related systems, as well as providing customer training and support. Field service technicians work at customer facilities, often traveling to different locations.
Typical travel includes an area of about 2 hours from the location. Some installs may require a few days of overnight travel and in rare instances, may require a weeks time. Typical scheduling is M-F from 8-5
Key aspects of CNC field service:
Installation and Commissioning:
Setting up new CNC machines, ensuring they are functioning correctly, and providing initial training to operators.
Repair and Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and resolving issues with CNC machines, replacing parts, and making necessary adjustments to restore functionality.
Preventative Maintenance:
Performing routine checks, inspections, and maintenance procedures to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal machine performance.
Customer Support:
Providing technical assistance to customers, answering questions, and guiding them on troubleshooting and repair procedures.
Training:
Educating operators and other personnel on the safe and effective operation of CNC machines.
Technical Expertise:
A strong understanding of CNC machine controls (e.g., FANUC, Siemens, Mitsubishi), mechanical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
