Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

Quality Inspectors perform quality checks on manufacturing processes and products to ensure they meet established standards and specifications. This role involves walking the floor and working at a quality station to ensure in-process and finished parts are correct before they are sent to customers.

Responsibilities

Use specialized equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to measure and verify product dimensions and tolerances.

Document and report any defects or non-conformities discovered during inspection and work with production staff to resolve issues.

Continuously monitor quality control procedures to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to management.

Conduct periodic audits of production lines to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Collaborate with engineers and production staff to develop and implement new quality control procedures and testing protocols.

Stay up-to-date on industry standards and regulations, ensuring all quality control processes align with guidelines.

Train new employees on quality control procedures and expectations to ensure product quality consistency.

Participate in cross-functional teams to identify and troubleshoot quality issues and work with other departments to implement solutions.

Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding quality control requirements and help resolve any quality issues in the supply chain.

Interpret drawings using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to determine part conformity.

Essential Skills

Proven quality experience in the manufacturing industry

Detail-oriented with experience interpreting drawings and work instructions

Proficient in inspection equipment such as depth micrometer, calipers, height gauge, tape measure

Basic skills in mathematics and geometrics

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Available to work overtime, including Saturdays

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in a machine shop environment

Experience with deburring processes

Experience with machining and assembly operations

Work Environment

Work in a traditional machine shop and assembly operation with over 100 CNC machines. The environment includes a climate-controlled, bright assembly area and a slightly dirty machine shop floor. Inspectors will work on the shop floor and in a private quality area as needed. Shifts include heavy overtime, with 1st shift from 7am to 3:30pm and 2nd shift from 3:30pm to 12am, with regular weekend work and extended hours during weekdays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
