Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Social Service Supervisor, the intake worker is responsible for application intake for LIHEAP, Social Services programs, receive and process referrals. The intake worker is responsible to assist with outreach to low-income residents for the primary service area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive and process incoming referrals.
Informs families about agency and community support services that may benefit them in achieving their goals and assist them with the referral process, including a community link service.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of LIHEAP guidelines an application intake and reviewing procedures.
Talking with clients and collecting data to determine program eligibility based on application and documentation; managing difficult or emotional client situations responding promptly to clients needs prioritizing an planning work activities using time efficiently; forwarding completed applications to the administrative assistant in a timely manner.
Maintaining a good working relationship with co-workers, vendors, and other organizations.
Maintaining confidential records and information pertaining to program participants.
Demonstrates quality, accuracy and thoroughness, applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
Ensure the ongoing completion and submission of monthly reports.
Participate in staff meetings, training programs, workshops and conferences as required.
Professionalism in dealing with the public to promote good community relations and encourage participation in program services.
Prepares documentation for ongoing family services.
Ability to work independently, flexibly and responsibly.
Ability to follow instructions and read and apply program guidelines
Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Possess High School diploma or GED
Capacity to use oral and written language effectively.
Abide by the requirements of all policy and procedure manuals.
Must possess a valid California drivers license and comply with the requirements of the Tribes driving policy and insurance requirements.
Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, and operation of general office machines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Two years of clerical experience in a multi-function position.

Indian Preference:
Preference in filling vacancies shall be given first to qualified Tuolumne Me-Wuk Community Council Members and then to enrolled Native Americans of any federally recognized tribe.
