Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Experience Required: Minimum 5 Years

Location: Galena Park

Employment Type: Full-time

Pay Rate: $30.00 - $35.00 hourly

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused High Voltage Electrician with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of high voltage systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of electrical codes and safety practices and will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our electrical infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities:

Installation of High Voltage Equipment

· Install and commission transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and other high voltage components.

· Ensure correct grounding, bonding, and system integrity for all installations.

Maintenance and Repair

· Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance.

· Diagnose and repair faults in high voltage equipment and circuits to minimize downtime.

Testing and Troubleshooting

· Conduct diagnostic tests such as insulation resistance, HiPot, and thermal imaging.

· Use tools like multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal cameras to identify and resolve issues.

Compliance and Safety

· Follow OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety regulations and electrical codes.

· Execute lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and wear appropriate PPE, including arc flash gear.

System Upgrades and Modifications

· Upgrade or retrofit outdated electrical infrastructure.

· Modify wiring and controls according to updated schematics or system requirements.

Documentation and Reporting

· Maintain accurate maintenance logs, test results, and repair documentation.

· Report hazards, participate in root cause analysis, and support safety audits.

Collaboration and Communication

· Work closely with engineers, plant managers, utility providers, and other stakeholders.

· Mentor junior electricians and support training efforts.

Emergency Response

· Respond quickly to high voltage emergencies and outages.

· Troubleshoot and restore power safely under pressure.

System Isolation and Energization

· Safely de-energize and re-energize systems during commissioning or maintenance.

· Conduct switching operations and manage distribution networks safely.

Reading Technical Documentation

· Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals related to high voltage systems.

Qualifications:

· Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in high voltage systems.

· Journeyman or Master Electrician license required.

· Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution, and safety protocols.

· Proficient in diagnostic tools and test equipment.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Work Conditions:

· May require working at heights or in confined spaces.

· On-call availability for emergency repairs.

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
