Service Engineer
Location: Hagerstown, MD
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Service Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling a wide range of responsibilities, from administrative tasks to strategic technical functions.
As a Service Engineer, you will work closely with design and manufacturing teams, as well as customers and vendor field engineers. A passion for innovation and a solid understanding of engineering systems is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the direct manager, field engineers, and technicians on daily activities at the railcar depot.
Monitor system Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) during commissioning and warranty periods; prepare and publish monthly performance reports.
Develop, maintain, and update a database of service failures during revenue operation.
Conduct RAMS analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Coordinate with design and manufacturing engineers to analyze failures and determine root causes.
Contribute to assessing RAMS performance and defining requirements to meet project RAMS targets.
Develop and deliver technical training materials, testing protocols, and certification documentation.
Take a proactive approach in analyzing RAMS data to improve the quality and consistency of engineering studies and requirements.
Identify and analyze non-conformities found during validation phases.
Select required spare parts using User Manuals and Illustrated Spare Parts Catalogs.
Review work breakdown structures and bills of materials.
Determine tooling and maintenance equipment requirements.
Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews to enhance maintainability.
Provide support to engineering teams to improve product reliability and performance.
Follow managerial direction and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Maintain strong client relationships in line with the company’s customer care standards.
Qualifications:
1–3 years of relevant engineering experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance processes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Self-directed with strong organizational and time management skills.
Analytical mindset with the ability to work with technical data and figures.
Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
Proactive problem-solving skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
