Job Summary
Blue Ridge Automation is seeking to fill a full-time Instrument Calibration Technician position. The Calibration Technician in Engineering performs routine and non-routine instrument calibrations in compliance with 21 CFR Part 58.63, Part 210, and Part 211, aligning with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This includes maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of equipment and instruments. This position reports to the Calibration Manager and is 100% onsite. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented technician who has previous experience in FDA-regulated, aerospace, or pharmaceutical environments.

Position Type: Full-Time Temp-to-Hire/Direct Hire Second Shift
Location: Midwest
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 Hourly (This position is eligible for a 20% night shift differential.)
Education: Associate degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Metrology or a related field preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Adjusts/repairs instruments to meet calibration tolerance requirements.
Set-up standards and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate instruments—including researching instrument specification and calibration techniques for new equipment, as applicable.
Participate in continuous improvement functions (lean initiatives), which increase efficiency, solve problems, generate cost savings and improve quality Analyze calibration data relative to Maximum Permissible Error (MPE) and initiate corrective actions for out-of-tolerance conditions.
Interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, datasheets, and OEM manuals to guide both field and bench calibrations.
Maintain reference standards with traceability to NIST or other national metrology institutes.
Ensure timely and accurate calibration support to manufacturing, packaging, quality, and other departments where current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) equipment and instruments are used.
Ensure compliance with GMP/GLP documentation practices and support both internal audits and external regulatory inspections.
Job Requirements
List 7-10 Experiences, skills, certifications, or expertise that are relevant and desirable this position.
Minimum 2 years experience in instrumentation or calibration within regulated or industrial environments
Working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 58.63, Part 210, and Part 211
Proficiency in using calibration equipment such as multimeters, temperature calibrators, oil/ice baths, and pressure gauges
Familiarity with Beamex, ProCal, or comparable calibration management systems
Understanding of Secondary Reference Points and Maximum Permissible Error (MPE)
Experience with automation systems, PLCs, or control valves
Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
Ability to qualify for Grade B gowning
