$120-$145K plus bonus

Highlights:

This person, along with most everyone in the group, will get exposure to the entire breadth of the company. If they perform, they might expect more of a fast-track development opportunity to round out their skills to eventually become a VP/Controller or CFO for a PE owned company one day.

The job will report to the #1 finance person in the company (VP/Controller) with full access to the COO and the CEO (who is outstanding by the way – very sophisticated and yet real/down to earth – I’d say working with him for a year is equivalent to working 3-4 years or even more somewhere else.)

Position Description and Responsibilities:

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for developing, training and managing a high-performance team of accounting professionals, focused on an exceptionally smooth month-end and financial reporting processes. This person will be a player-coach, capable of managing the accounting for a highly transactional business, while taking ownership for accurate financial statement preparation and review, payroll, HR compliance, while contributing meaningfully to the development and execution of the company’s controls, financial and operational reporting and strategic finance functions

Key responsibilities include:

1. Financial Reporting

a. Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

b. Ensure reports comply with GAAP and/or other regulatory standards.

2. General Ledger Management

a. Oversee the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.

b. Manage journal entries and account reconciliations.

3. Month-End and Year-End Close

a. Coordinate and support closing activities.

b. Prepare necessary supporting documentation and adjustments.

4. Internal Controls and Compliance

a. Help maintain and improve internal controls.

b. Ensure compliance with company policies and external regulations.

5. Audit Support

a. Assist with internal and external audits.

b. Prepare schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.

6. Team Supervision and Development

a. Supervise junior accounting staff and clerks.

b. Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback.

7. Budgeting and Forecasting

a. Support the budgeting process and variance analyses.

b. Assist in developing financial models and forecasts.

8. Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight

a. Ensure timely processing and review of payables and receivables.

b. Monitor cash flow and manage aging reports.

9. Systems and Process Improvement

a. Assist in implementing or upgrading financial systems.

b. Identify inefficiencies and propose process enhancements.

10. Payroll

a. Review time sheets

b. Process payroll

11. Special Projects

a. Support strategic initiatives including M&A, financial and operational automation, and operational productivity and Lean 6σ projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be organized and process-driven.

This person will need the communication skills required to lead a small team of direct reports, while collaborating with and marshaling the support of peers and executive leadership from different functions across the entire organization. Accordingly, the person needs to have the ability to quickly assimilate technical information, display patience under pressure, and exhibit insight and problem-solving skills for all situations. The successful Sr. Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller exhibit a strong attention to detail, be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and be willing to roll up their sleeves and be ‘in-the-detail’. This will require effective time management, prioritization and multitasking skills.

Qualified applicants should possess:

Bachelor’s degree is required, with a strong preference for those with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Mathematics. A CPA is preferred

Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting to include month end close, financial statement preparation and review, accruals, reconciliations, and controls. Experience exclusively in Public Accounting may be considered overall as well, preferably from a leading national CPA firm.

Excellent interpersonal/communication (written and verbal) skills.

Team leadership, training and management experience required.

Experience with a highly transactional company is a plus, as is experience with MS Dynamics.

Significant proficiency with or mastery of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Experience processing payroll and/or exposure to HR compliance issues is a plus.
