JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the fiscal functions of the organization in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements (including those set by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Securities and Exchange Commission), and sound financial management practices. The CFO plays a key leadership role in strategic planning, financial analysis, and risk management.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
Deep understanding of GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance, and other relevant financial regulations
Familiarity with state and local financial reporting requirements
Experience using enterprise accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains or similar platforms)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong grasp of operational business unit needs and the ability to provide financial insight and guidance to support effective decision-making

Proven ability to develop and monitor performance metrics

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required
10–15 years of progressive financial leadership experience
At least 2 years of supervisory experience
Proven experience managing relationships with financial institutions and/or investors
MBA and/or CPA designation preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervision of the Financial Controller
Oversight of accounting and finance department personnel
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with the executive leadership team to implement and align financial strategy with the organization’s long-term goals
Ensure accurate and timely completion of all internal and external financial reporting obligations
Oversee preparation and review of financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes and provide insightful financial analysis to support executive and board-level decision-making
Develop strategies for tax planning, financial risk mitigation, and capital structure optimization
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions and investors; manage debt financing as necessary
Support and manage internal and external audits
Assess financial implications of business initiatives, regulatory changes, and market conditions
Enhance internal controls, processes, and procedures for financial operations
Provide guidance on mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and contract negotiations from a financial perspective
