We have partnered with a client in Washington DC to identify a Director of Finance to lead financial planning, budgeting, and analysis functions throughout the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficiency by developing robust budgets, conducting in-depth variance analysis, and delivering accurate financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the annual budgeting process across departments, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency.

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual budget performance and prepare detailed variance analysis reports.

Develop and maintain rolling forecasts to anticipate financial outcomes and inform strategic planning.

Collaborate with department heads to understand financial needs and provide data-driven insights for resource allocation.

Prepare and present financial reports, including trend analysis, risk assessments, and scenario modeling, to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements.

Implement and improve financial systems, tools, and processes to increase forecasting accuracy and financial transparency.

Supervise and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field

Master's degree or CPA certification preferred

8+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.

Proven track record in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and forecasting.

Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills required.

Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with strong attention to detail.

Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and financial modeling software.

Expertise in budget development, monitoring, and variance analysis.

Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.

Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls best practices.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

Adept at strategic thinking and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
