Summary
Workman Nydegger, PC, is an intellectual property and litigation law firm located in Salt Lake City. As the Controller, you would be responsible for the integrity of accounting information and associated business processes. The Controller supports the Executive Director, Managing Shareholder, Finance Committee, and is part of the administrative leadership team at the firm.
Essential Functions
Directs and manages accounting department personnel and activities, such as accounts payable and receivable, and client billing.
Prepares regular reports regarding past financial performance and provides requested reports on other financial matters.
Monitors and spontaneously analyzes revenue, trends, and other metrics of the firm’s financial performance to offer clarity and advice to firm leadership.
Recommends and oversees financial policies.
Recommends and implements improvements to financial processes.
Works closely with Executive Director and Managing Shareholder on firm-wide financial matters.
Prepares, oversees, and maintains documentation related to budgets, year-end reports, and other related financial activities.
Maintains internal controls to safeguard and mitigate risk to company assets.
Oversee the payroll process which requires a strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
Responsible for all financial reporting and accounting including month end close, all related journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Responsible for compiling information for tax returns.
Developing a relationship with the firm’s shareholders and an interest in the firm’s clients is key to long-term success in this role.
Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
Professional services experience helpful.
Outstanding communication skills and ability to create and deliver effective presentations.
Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational and writing skills.
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience.
Advanced Excel skills.
