Concrete Flatwork Foreman
Immel Construction is seeking an experienced and reliable Concrete Flatwork Foreman to oversee concrete flatwork on construction sites. The Concrete Flatwork Foreman will lead crews in the preparation, placement, and finishing of concrete for slabs, sidewalks, parking lots, and curb construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in concrete flatwork construction and the leadership skills necessary to manage crews and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate daily activities of concrete flatwork crew in coordination with onsite Superintendent.
Review site logistics and planning with Superintendent.
Coordinate manpower requests with onsite Superintendent.
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans to determine work requirements.
Set forms, place reinforcing steel, pour, level, and finish concrete.
Inspect work areas and ensure all tasks meet quality standards and deadlines.
Monitors weather conditions to protect the integrity of the pour and finish.
Prepare for and monitor material usage and coordinate with suppliers and project managers.
Enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA standards.
Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
Conduct pre-pour checklist and post-poor inspection.
Train and mentor team members to improve performance and skill sets.
Communicate effectively with onsite Superintendent, subcontractors, and other trades.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade school certification a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in concrete construction with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of concrete techniques, tools, and materials.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and in varying weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for extended periods.
Comfortable working in outdoor and potentially hazardous environments.
