We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team at a 24-hour manufacturing facility. The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in analyzing production costs, monitoring inventory and variances, and supporting data-driven decision-making to improve operational efficiency and profitability. This role requires a hands-on understanding of manufacturing processes and strong collaboration with production, engineering, and supply chain teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze and monitor standard costs, actual costs, and variance reporting for materials, labor, and overhead.

• Create product costs in the ERP system using BOMS, Routers, yield scrap factors and labor & overhead rates.

• Ensure accurate Product Costs via analysis and audit of ERP data.

• Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems and cost models to support budgeting and forecasting.

• COGs and gross margin analysis of the P&L with multiple legal entities and multiple product lines

• Conduct monthly inventory analysis, including physical counts, reconciliation, and adjustments.

• Inventory and related balance sheet account analysis and account reconciliations.

• Collaborate with production teams to track and evaluate manufacturing efficiency, waste, and yield performance.

• Prepare cost of goods manufactured (COGM) and cost of goods sold (COGS) reports.

• Support monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and audit support.

• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), raw materials, and finished goods inventory to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve cost control and margin performance.

• Explore opportunities for system automation and improved analytical tools.

• Design and document procedures for industrial accounting.

• Assist in developing and reviewing capital expenditure projects and their cost implications.

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards.

QUALIFICATIONS COMPETENCIES

• Strong understanding of cost / industrial accounting and US GAAP.

• Experience with ERP systems

• Advanced excel skills (minimum pivots & look-ups). Database and BI knowledge a plus.

• Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

• Intellectual curiosity and advanced analytical thinking ability.

• CMA or CPA or MBA a plus.

• On-site presence required to interact with production teams and review operational data.

• May involve occasional off-shift hours or weekend availability to support plant operations or inventory counts.

• Must be comfortable in a factory environment, including time spent on the production floor.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

Product Costing, BOM/Router control, Inventory management, profitability analysis, variance analysis, deep interaction with operations, supply chain and planning.

BS in Accounting or related field. 5+ years of experience with strong preference in a manufacturing environment.
