Job Description
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for programming CNC equipment and supporting the machining department with optimized tool paths, setup documentation, and machining strategies. In addition to traditional CNC machining, this role will also be responsible for programming parts and tooling for 3-axis and 5-axis laser systems, as well as water jet equipment. The CNC Programmer plays a critical role in ensuring efficient production by proactively identifying challenges, minimizing downtime, and meeting both short-term and long-term manufacturing goals. This position works cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure high-quality parts are delivered on time and to specification. A strong focus on continuous improvement, communication, and precision is essential to the success of this role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program CNC equipment for form tooling, part-holding fixtures, production components, and specialized processes including 3-axis/5-axis laser and water jet systems.
Develop and maintain detailed setup documentation to support efficient production workflows.
Maintain a strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and equipment capabilities.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce cycle times.
Troubleshoot and resolve production and programming-related issues as they arise.
Ensure smooth workflow across shifts by documenting key actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
Collaborate with department leads to support on-time production and schedule adherence.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet team and company objectives.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, company policies, quality standards, and safety and environmental regulations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in machine operating.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience programming with Mastercam.
Hands-on experience with vertical and horizontal mills, 4th-axis machining, positioners, and Fanuc/Okuma controllers.
Familiarity with a wide range of tooling, inspection equipment, machining parameters (feeds/speeds), and best practices.
Must be able to maintain alertness and consistently work in a safe, responsible manner.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job operates in a manufacturing plant operation and professional office environment. This role may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In the manufacturing environment, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and/ or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, excessive heat, cold, wet, bright light and slippery conditions. The noise level in the manufacturing plant can be very loud (ear protection is provided).

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands/fingers to handle/feel; reach with hands and arms; climb; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; reach; pull; balance; carry; handle. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Ability to walk and stand on concrete surfaces for a significant amount of time during workday.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Hours/days of work will fluctuate as needed and required. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance is required. Must work 30 hours or more each week to maintain full-time status.
